Stumpt is owned and run by Jake Carruthers — an operator with a résumé most people wouldn’t believe. Two years running equipment in Antarctica. Seven years as a custom harvest operator, chasing wheat from Texas to Canada. Pipeline construction. Farm ground. If it moves dirt, mulches brush, or brings in a crop, Jake has probably done a season of it.

After a decade-plus of seat time on someone else’s equipment, Jake brought that range of operator experience home — back to the family farm in Patoka — and put it to work for landowners in this part of the country. His father runs equipment on the ground alongside him.

We’ve spent our lives on the kind of property we now clear: working farms, family woodlots, fence rows that haven’t been touched in a decade, hunting tracts overgrown past the point of usefulness.
